SILENT SKY

Taking place in our intimate black box space, Silent Sky follows the historic figure Henrietta Leavitt making incredible scientific discoveries of our universe through the stars, all while handling society's expectations of her role as a woman in the workplace. The stars were represented with a multitude of diffused corn lights within 3D-printed lanterns that hung above the set. Each corn light was individually controlled and therefore I created effects to coordinate with some of the sound cues and when Margaret helped Henrietta discover the patterns of stars with the chords of her piano.
This is my first lighting design and I was able to apply my experience as an assistant, programmer, and electrician to tell this beautiful story the best way that I can through light.
