For this production concept, the feeling of "lost hope" and having no way to escape the conditions of this prison were achieved with these crumbling walls closing in the playing space. All brick, stone, and dirt textures stay true to the 16th century, during the Spanish Inquisition, featuring side booms on either side of the stage to properly light the choreographed dances that represent the sensitive topics explored in this piece.

With this being a summerstock, the tight build & paint schedule was taken into account, so everything had to be fairly minimalistic. To my delight, this show called for exactly that feel - the direction was also very clear in not cluttering or making any part of the space feel too "full". I loved working on this production.
