I love designing a classic musical! The richness of each location provided me with plenty to fill this stage. In the very early conversations of this show, the director and I knew we wanted to highlight themes of gambling, fantasy, and love. The upstage marquee arch is inspired by a roulette wheel, but to not be too on the nose, takes on a different color palette - that of the surrounding forced-perspective cityscape! Following this idea of "fantasy" and "dreamlike", the entire cityscape is full of colors, and embracing a romantic "painter-like" quality.

In Guys & Dolls, Gambler Sky Masterson takes missionary Sarah Brown to Havana all on a bet, and they end up falling in love, while simultaneously, Nathan Detroit is trying to keep his floating crap game running (as he runs away from his marriage to his fiancée, Miss Adelaide.
