Truly a bucket-list show of mine! I was so excited to work on this charming and cartoonishly dramatic musical. It was quite the challenge designing such a dynamic piece in a blackbox theater that has to stay in a thrust configuration for the season - I created a false proscenium with an extending deck that had ramps on either side to allow rolling pieces an easy journey onstage. This show called for an upstage projection screen - and just for some more character - some portraits in the walls that could reveal cut-outs for the ensemble to mime through as well.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder follows Monty Navarro, a poor clerk, who discovers he is an heir to a fortune - after eight other relatives. He decides to murder these eccentric eight, all of which are played by a single actor. And just to top it all off, he is faced with a love triangle as he succeeds!
